1. Catholic education
This is one of his most important works in Loja. The Sisters arrived in the city on October 28, 1889 and began an educational work initially aimed at girls.
They currently run, among other works, the Santa Mariana de Jesús Educational Unit, where they offer education from the first levels to Baccalaureate. His proposal seeks to combine education, faith, values, culture and human formation.

The Marianitas have in Loja a Casa Hogar Santa Mariana de Jesús and a residence for university students called Mercedes de Jesús Molina. The congregation itself includes these works within its official presence in Ecuador.
In addition, they have historically created works specifically aimed at people with fewer resources. For example, in 1995 they put into operation a free evening school in response to the social needs of the city.
3. Evangelisation and Christian formation

His spirituality was born from the experience of Mercedes de Jesús Molina, who dedicated his life to prayer, mission and service to people in need. The congregation continues this orientation through communities, educational works, shelters and missions.
Who was Mercedes de Jesús Molina?

Mercedes de Jesús Molina was an Ecuadorean woman who decided to dedicate her life to God and the poor. In 1870 he went to the Amazon to carry out an evangelising mission and, during a smallpox epidemic, he attended to sick people. In 1873 he founded the Institute of the Sisters of Santa Mariana de Jesús in Riobamba.
